NFL Mock Draft ‘10

Update February 15, 2010

A few months have passed since the 2009 draft. The time has come to give a very, very early look at mocking next year’s draft. Admittedly, this is an incredibly difficult task to nail anywhere on the head, but we’ll do out best. For now, a lot of these picks are more position-oriented than anything, seeing as we aren’t sure if any of these juniors will declare or not, and who knows how well anyone will perform.

Oh, and if you like films or just want to have something new and intelligent to talk about at a party, we are here for you. We’ve got a couple of suggestions/naysayings over at MovieHuman, where our film critic hits the theater from time to time to give you his opinion… Check out our latest movie review!

To provide the least amount of confusion or speculation, this draft order is set up based on the order in which teams finished. There are a few spots determined by coin flip–they are random. As of now, we think Bradford will be and should be the guy. The 49ers will bolster that defense. The Lions will take a defensive tackle even though they need an OT. More below…

The bucs are going to get the number one pic. and with that eric berry will get picked. kiffin sr. has a close tie to them coaching for them for years and tells them the truth about the kid

  • Dane (author) said:

Berry is pretty darn talented and Tampa could certainly use help with that aging secondary… but the last and only safety picked first overall was born when Herbert Hoover was president.

why would the falcons take an ILB with their first round pick when they have a top young player in curtis lofton at ilb? they need to bolster their pass rush or get a better cornerback…read a couple of stats before you randomly start selecting names

Perhaps we should have just denoted “LB” next to Rolando McC. By all accounts, he is one of the most versatile players available, and is OLB material in a 4-3 type scheme. Despite the success of Curtis Lofton, the Falcons always seem to allow 50+ yards to opposing TEs and short catches from the backs, and an all-around great linebacker like McClain would help shore that up.

[...] The Human Review publishes an interesting mock draft. They have Seattle taking C.J. Spiller (RB, Clemson) with the 9th overall pick and Charles Brown (OT, USC) 28th overall. I discussed the possibility of Spiller going in the top ten on Tuesday. The Seahawks will undoubtedly want to target their defensive line after a number of disappointing performances and the relative depth at the position. However, I find it hard not to like what has been predicted here. I’ve made no secret of my fondness for both Spiller and Brown. Share and Enjoy: [...]

    49ers get 2 DE’s with their picks???

    Stupid

  • P-E said:

No way 49′ers is gonna pass on Joe Haden twice !!!!!!!!!!

  • Dane (author) said:

    Everyone’s a critic :-)
Actually, we really appreciate your comment and P-E’s–the 49ers would probably be very unlikely to pick two DEs. That was, in fact, an ordering error. Had you seen this site yesterday (UNDER CONSTRUCTION) then the confusion would be a little clearer. As it is now, we are still working out some kinks, like that one. Morgan goes to Philly, who this morning had been slated to grab Carlos Dunlap… who might not even get into the first round thanks to a bad combination of liquor and cars. Anyway, all should be fixed now, as Haden should have been penciled in at the 17 spot.

As a Tampa fan, I’d be pleased with this pick, but I doubt they will pass up McCoy. They are said to be very interested in both players, however. If Berry, they could look to a DT top of rd.2.

saints han here,an i like what i saw from kindle last night,be my pick..comes into the NFL a Winner

  • Frank said:

Niners were poised to take Oher in the last draft before Crabtree fell to them. They won’t miss out again…they might take the guy that pretty much owned Morgan in the Orange Bowl, Bulaga. Or they could go A. Davis, or C. Brown. Haden will be long gone by the #17 pick…so Niners could go in a number of directions…Spiller, Spikes, top DE, etc.

  • Scott Carasik said:

Horrible ATL pick. They will not be taking anyone with any character issues.

  • Bryqan said:

No way the Jags draft Tebow. So far Mr. Weaver has said it’s interesting what Tebow could do for ticket sales but other than that statement, everything says GM Gene Smith will NOT draft Tebow.

If they can’t trade out of the pick and with what’s been drafted infront of them I see them drafting Derrick Morgan

  • Armyguy1 said:

No way do the Giants pass up on a guy like CJ Spiller. Jerry Reese is known for taken the best player on the board. Brian Price is a good DT but overall talent CJ Spiller doesn’t get by Reese if he is still on the board. If he does get by the G-Men he needs to be fired as GM.

  • Dane (author) said:

Several commentors brought to our attention a rather dumb mistake we made when we updated this morning–Seattle gets Bradford and Cleveland gets Berry, not the other way around as it was mistakenly posted (which obviously would have had the Seahawks picking two safeties even though they’d start a 35 year old QB). Thanks for pointing that out.

  • Frank said:

Niners will make sure they get one of the top OT’s this draft…they were set to take Oher last year when Crabtree fell to them. Possibilities include Anthony Davis, Bulaga etc. I doubt Haden will still be on the board at #16/17, but Donovan Warren probably will be. He’d be an excellent choice.

  • Scott Carasik said:

horrible Falcons pick. we have ZERO need for a S. we have actual needs at DE, OLB and CB that will be addressed.

  • Scott said:

Tebow stunk up the joint in the Senior Bowl. Jax can certainly wait until the 3rd or 4th round they want to sell tickets.

  • floridated said:

Don’t beleive for 1 minute Patriots draft Dwyer 1st round. their pick will probably be Cody since trding Seymour away and the possible franchise of Wilfork. Pats will survive this year at rb with Maroney,Taylor and whom ever coach hoodie likes because they will get Ingram from bama with oaklands pick(1st Round 2011) thank you big Al..Big Al gets a woodie watching men run around fast in shorts so his freak pick this year in the first round is Jason Pierre Paul who fits the mold for plastic al….

  • Steve said:

The Niners top need is a OT. No matter what, they will come out of the first round with one. After that DB. Hayden would be nice but if Bulaga is the only worth OT available, they will go with the tackle. They can always go with Warren or Thomas later. The kid from Boise State would fit in the second round. I also like the idea of getting a WR/KR in the later rounds. In one mock, the had the Niners picking Bulaga then the OG from Iowa. That would be a tremendous addition to the offense. The would be able to use the run to control the game. That in itself would help out the defense.

  • Steve said:

My bad, I meant the OG from Idaho Iupati. Sorry. Still that would make a dominating OL for the Niners teaming with Bulaga
